Our Story
Start in Malta is a governmental initiative aimed to supercharge the Maltese startup ecosystem in order to be the birthplace of many more startup success stories to come.
The History of the Festival
The Startup Festival began by celebrating Malta’s growing start-up scene and the 20th anniversary of KBIC. It quickly evolved, with the second edition introducing youth engagement and investor matchmaking. In the years that followed, it continued to grow, drawing top entrepreneurial talent and hundreds of start-ups from sectors like FinTech, Gaming, VR/AR, BioTech, and the Blue Economy.
The 6th Edition
Focus on what’s next! Startup Festival returns on 16th October 2026, bringing founders, entrepreneurs and the wider startup community together to connect, share ideas and discover new opportunities. Join us to explore fresh perspectives, spark meaningful conversations and shape what’s next for the startup ecosystem.
